AER LINGUS Irish Airlines Negotiations Update

Your Negotiating Committee met on January 14 -16, 2015, at the company office in Jericho. In attendance for the Company were Ken Karchinski and AnnaMarie Weismantel. Present for the Union were Maria Restuccia, Diane Seddio and General Chair Mike Manzo.

The topic the first day we met was the takeover bid made by International Airlines Group (IAG), the parent company of British Airways and Iberia Airlines. The various UK and Irish papers reported that it was expected IAG would increase their offer after the Aer Lingus Board rejected their bid on December 29, 2014.

Over the three days, we discussed changes to the health insurance plan, roster bids, amending language in your job descriptions, proposed increases to TOT and PTO banks, and a TOT cash out option. There was also discussion on an “employment guarantee/no lay-off clause” for the life of the new agreement in exchange for us agreeing to allow others (non-bargaining unit staff) to handle the non-verbal work we currently do such as customer email queries pertaining to: seats & baggage policies, redeeming points, APIS info, refunds, web forms, web chat and schedule changes.

We will investigate this further over our next scheduled sessions. There was some progress made at these meetings but we still have more work to do to reach a conclusion. We have not discussed wages or an overall financial package at this time.   We are scheduled to meet again on January 28 and 29, 2015.

Your Negotiating Committee would like to thank you for your support and patience during his process.  Please address any questions or concerns you may have to your Negotiating Committee members, as they are the only accurate source of information concerning our ongoing negotiations.
